"The Field"

I once had a friend that I grew up with in Oklahoma who had since moved to Orem, Utah who said that she missed OK. She then said that she missed “living in the field”. It took me a second to understand what she meant by that. When I did, it was almost insulting, if not presumptuous, to insinuate that there is no missionary work in UT to be done. I guess that’s what was meant by “Carnal Security” in the Book of Mormon.
